Farm to Pantry - Preserving Workshop

It's healthy, sustainable, green, fresh and easier than you think! It can be simple or gourmet, it's canning, and it's becoming popular again for very good reason. Come discover what canning can give to you and your family. Our canning workshop is completely hands-on and will give you all of the basic information you need to begin preserving your own food at home using the most popular method, water-bath canning.

We'll prepare three of the most popular food types of canning which are fruits, tomatoes and pickles. We will prepare pear or peach butter, fresh whole tomatoes, and bread & butter pickles. Products will be selected and/or changed based on seasonal availability. You'll take home your very own notebook with instructions and recipes (which we use in the class) along with a jar of each product canned. Complete safety guidelines as prescribed by USDA will be taught so that you will finish the class with the knowledge and confidence to do canning on your own - ready to stock your pantry for year-round seasonal goodness! All supplies are included in the course fee but feel free to bring your own apron. Register at least seven days prior to the class start date.
