Acting: Taking Risks and Making Choices Camp (Rising 7th-12th Graders)
We are calling all young actors near and far for this concentrated week of rigorous acting work led by collegiate and professional experts that will leave any actor better prepared and more focused for getting the part. So often acting training becomes lost in theatrical games and philosophies leading to little action; this camp will teach the importance of deep textual analysis to reveal character needs through risks and choices that yield unforgettable dedicated performances. Coupled with intense awareness training, actors will take considerable steps in self-awareness that will lead to performances that project an informed inner monologue. Regardless if educational or professional, auditioning for college or community theatre, this intense week will change the way young actors approach the script. There will be a free performance on Friday evening in Russell Auditorium at 7 p.m. that will showcase everything students have worked on all week. Please note that all students will need to have two 60 to 90 second (memorized and prepared) monologues, a bound composition journal, 12 sharpened pencils and a focused, open minded, serious willingness to learn.
Sorry, this course has been cancelled. Please contact our office to see if it will be rescheduled, or if alternative classes are available.
